Megan & Hannah

Image
casual laughter on the floor Cuz we're the three best friends that anyone could have! Yep, it's time. The post about my two best betches, Megan Hunter and Hannah Whorton. I met Hannah during my senior year at Heritage Hall. We bonded over bugs on the wilderness trip. I met Megan during my stint at Jamba Juice. We bonded over strawberry surfriders and Prince Hot Ginge  Harry. Introducing two of my best friends and expecting the relationship to be magic is risky. All sorts of things could go wrong. What if the chemistry isn't there? What if they are complete opposites? What if they've already secretely hated each other just from seeing Facebook posts?  But this relationship...It blossomed from the beginning. Maybe it was the alphabet game, maybe it was the midnight trips to Ihop, or maybe it's because these two were meant to be friends even if I didn't exist.  But I'm glad I do so I can share life with them. Usually just summer life since Hannah likes to...

Bunny Hunting Season

Image
I was thrilled to spend Easter weekend at home this year. Tyler generously drove me to OKC where we found Oakes had recently asked his prom date to the dance in an Easter bunny costume befitting the season. On a sudden inspiration, I asked to borrow the costume.  Tyler and I took off in the Prius for our destination, only stopping at Krispy Kreme, because why not? I arrived at her apartments, donned the ridiculous outfit, and armed myself with her favorite donut (cream-filled with chocolate icing) and an Easter basket brimming with souvenirs from my Spring Break trip. I was a little short for the costume, but I waddled over to her door, the butt of the bunny hanging somewhere around my knees, and knocked. Tyler positioned himself to the side, hidden from her view, but able to take pictures. No one answered the door. So I awkwardly knocked again, no small task with hands full of goodies. Her dog began to bark so I stepped back, sure that she would answer. Nothing. Tyler and I wh...

Megan is 24!

Image
24 years ago a beautiful girl was born. I, unfortunately, didn't know her then because I didn't quite exist yet. There are few friends that I feel like I can be completely myself around. She is one of them. I've only known her for a year and a half. We've only been close for maybe a year. But I've learned a lot about this 24 year old in 365 days. Megan Amanda Hunter is one of the strongest women that I know. I'm not going to put her entire personal life out there, but she has experienced more than most people should have to in a mere 24 years. She's in love with her dog, Elvis, and is a model employee at the doggie daycare. She's got a penchant for photography and can inspire with merely an obscure camera angle. She has a sweet tooth the size of Texas and vocal chords that could probably emit something loud enough to cross the state line when used to full potential. I admire the way she stands up for herself and the people that she loves. I never ha...

RIP Jamba Juice

Books have beginnings and endings. So does summer. And school. And thankfully, so do Jamba Juice shifts (I will officially be relinquishing the title of smoothie master "big chief yoda" on May 31st. It's time to close the door on that part of my life. And lock it. And lose the key). I've worked there for over a year now and I had the time of my life! But lately, I just have too much on my plate. And since I have two other jobs (both with higher hourly rates..), Jamba had to approach the chopping block first. I've changed drastically from the person I was when I first started blending. Fresh out of ICU, walking to Jamba from my house (a distance of less than half a mile) typically winded me. Now, I sometimes don't even bother asking for a ride, preferring instead to catch a few more sun rays. Unless it's over 90 degrees. Then me and the Matrix are best friends (even though I'm just using her for her air conditioning. Shhh). Most of my coworkers woul...
