Blogger Love

I'm sure many of you know of my fellow blogger, Miranda or Life Measured in Coffee Spoons , but you probably don't know our history. I met Miranda in sixth grade at St. David's School. She was (and still is) one of a kind. And also one of the smartest people I know! We passed notes all through middle school. These were not your average crinkled scraps of paper haphazardly stuffed into lockers...we caught the writing bug early. We would fill pages and pages of real notebooks and pass them back and forth in between class, detailing our experiences with our peers and our intense crush on Fibi. We planned to perform in the middle school talent show together and practiced everyday after school in her mom's van. Hilary Duff serenaded us with "Someone's Watching Over Me" and we followed along with our respective solos and subsequent duet. We were pretty impressive, not going to lie. And then...I chickened out. I gave up and broke down and went against everythin...

An Acorn for Life

If I had to pick a favorite out of all the educational institutions I've attended, New Hope Academy in Franklin, Tennessee would take the number one spot. For two reasons: 1) I left after third grade, the drama in elementary school is fairly minimal; 2) the people. Kindergarden was my first year there. I narrowly escaped being homeschooled by Shari but Miss LaVerne (I'm 95% positive of her name) called in August, announcing that a spot had opened up. I think Shari and I were both relieved. I couldn't have asked for a better kindergarden teacher, they don't come much better than Tracy Utley. She homeschools her own boys now and I'm jealous that they get her teaching for more than one year; I would learn from her any and every day! I weirdly remember a very specific leopard print belt that she would wear sometimes, guess I was a wanna-be fashionista. Still am--a wannabe that is. Samantha Wilson became my very best friend and I started crushing hard on Nick Ingham. ...

Wait..I Said What!?

Remember that first boy (or girl-I'm totally gender neutral) you thought you would love forever? The one that you sent really embarrassingly cheesy/sappy Facebook chats to? (or notes? I'm such a child of this current generation).  Well, I do. I'm gonna use the power of initials for anonymity (just in case I have lurkers that I know--conceited right?) so I hereby dub this kid J.D. And I never deleted some of those Facebook chats so I stumbled upon them the other day: Let's dissect. First, the typos are horrid. The red squiggly line isn't just decoration. Take notice and fix it! Second, let's find the cliches! I spy with my little eye...at least four. If you are trying to woo me, please take some time to be original/witty. Third, guess what our relationship is at this point in our lives? Maybe friends that occasionally chat it up every now and then just to catch up on life? Nope. He deleted me on Facebook. Guess his love wasn't as eternal as he original...
