2019 is off to a wonderful start when it comes to reading! I'm looking forward to continuing to challenge myself with selections that are outside my comfort zone. Fair warning: I've recently contracted a podcast addiction so the audiobook count might be dropping drastically in the next few months. Bachelor Nation: Inside the World of America’s Favorite Guilty Pleasure by Amy Kaufman 3 stars This book was SO INTERESTING. I can’t call it a masterful piece of literature by any stretch of the imagination, but I listened to it and was hooked. Kaufman addresses the myth of producer rose selection as well as what actually happens in an ITM (In the Moment session, when a producer takes a contestant aside to speak to them individually on camera). She spoke with Bachelor celebrity fans and alum alike to create this book and I highly recommend it, especially for my fellow Bachelor lovers! It's a new year and I have new book goals! I'm so excited for all the adventures I'll be taking between the pages of a book from the comfort of my couch. December was busy with parties, wrapping presents, etc., but I still made time for my happiest pasttime.  Source Ghosted by Rosie Walsh 5 stars This was one of those novels that raises question after question until all I had was questions and I wondered if this author would ever provide any answers!! It didn’t frustrate me, but rather raised the intrigue factor. Girl meets boy and it’s love after a mere 6 days. Except then boy disappears and girl doesn’t know if he’s in danger, dead, or is just a prick. It kept me guessing until the very last pages and I almost feel like I need to reread it knowing what I know now after the ending. Pinterest Winter is a bookworm's dream because there is literally NO GOOD REASON not to be inside by a fire with a book or seven. Therefore, I will be thriving for the next four or five months. Without further ado, check out what stories caught my attention and which ones you should skip! Sweet Little Lies by Caz Frear  4 stars This is Frear’s first novel and I’m certain it won’t be her last. I don’t know what it is about these suspense stories set in England that get my imagination going, but this one did not disappoint. A strong female lead with just enough foibles to make her human, Cat’s search to find the culprit of a murder had me making and rejecting my own hypotheses several times over. Personally, I needed just a little more wrap up at the end, which is why SLL fell just one star short of a perfect rating. I wandered the aisles of Barnes and Noble the other night with Megan Goebel, searching for a book for her to take on her Thanksgiving trek to Kansas. We both walked out empty-handed, but I had an arsenal of photographs on the camera roll in my phone.  I immediately logged into Amazon (yeah they remember me, what's the problem?) as soon as I arrived back at my dorm and searched for the used/reduced priced version of 5 different titles. Bought them all. For the low, low price of $48.40. Damn shipping gets me every time. But I'd rather pay approximately $10 a book than the atrocious $15.99 that B&N was offering. And there's not a single fiction book among my selection! Will wonders never cease... My mailbox should soon be stuffed with words from Ellen Degeneres, Mindy Kaling, and others. A Very Lucky Girl plans to lurk the post office faithfully until her orders arrive.
