Beccachelorette Recap Week Nine: Runaway Becca

source
This week we are thaid up in a love triangle in Chang Mai, Thailand. Becca is over the moon to be among the culture AKA street food and temples. She's determined that she is in love with 2 men and falling in love with a 3rd.

Blake is lucky number 1 for overnight. I've always thought that receiving the first shot at the fantasy suite is a badge of honor--less chance of sexually communicable diseases and such.

Becca is wearing her very best LuLuLemon leggings and crop top and informs Blake that they are going to hike to a sacred temple. They cannot kiss or touch after crossing the threshold into the forest, yet Becca's midriff isn't considered offensive. Cut off from their one source of entertainment (lip-locking), Becca and Blake exchange comments of how beautiful the hike is during their ascent. A monk shows them into the temple where the couple receives a lesson on honestly, patience, etc.

The monks invite them to ring a bell to spread their love to everyone so they hit the bell 3x before scurrying down the mountain to get back into the touchy-feely zone. All Blake can think about is if Becca is like this with his 2 competitors...standby for more insecurities.

At dinner, Becca thanks Blake for being so open. She has never once had to question where she stands with their relationship. Blake says the past 2 weeks have been tough since he knows it's possible she has strong connections with other guys. Becca tactfully ignores the obvious ploy for the scoop on her other relationships and instead comments that her relationship with Blake is too good to be true. however, she's superstitious and doesn't want to jinx anything so she demands "give me all the wood, where is it!"

On THAT note, it's fantasy suite time. They giggle over Chris Harrison's invitation and Blake is one hundred percent down for some naked alone time. After a tasteful camera angle of bedtime snuggles, we are treated to the morning after. Becca's make up artist snuck in early to paint her lips the perfect pink. Blake doesn't want this to be the last morning he wakes up with her and prolongs their goodbye at the elevator.

Jason is date #2 and is the only guy not to receive a jump and straddle greeting. That in itself was telling. They are balling on a budget today and wander the Sunday Market. They sip some smoothies before interrupting the professional dancers to get in their moves of their own. All that social unawareness works up an appetite and they make a snack out of a cricket stand before admiring Buddhist statues.

All of a sudden, our resident Bachelorette needs a moment to herself, perhaps to digest an errant cricket leg? No such luck. She sits in the shade with a producer having a mini melt down while Jason sits across the square and looks awkward. She's having a difficult time picturing a future with Jason.

Dinner is next and Jason is feeling good, despite the random end to the day portion of their date. They recap his hometown and Jason reiterates that his family gave their stamp of approval. He can confidently say that he's in love with her, but he wants to know where her head is these days. Becca honestly states that her head is all over the place. She admits that today there was a moment when something felt off when they started discussing the future. She gets up from the table and once again walks away to question her life choices.

Becca admits that she sees a future more with Garrett or Blake than with Jason and doesn't think it's fair to keep him around any longer. As Becca makes these discoveries, Jason nurses his beer alone at the dinner table. Becca sits down to try to explain her feelings. She just doesn't think they can get there at the end. Jason is disappointed, but maintains that he will be rooting her happiness as always. In the SUV of reflection, he is shocked. Becca cries by the fountain before throwing herself on the bed to question her decision making capabilities. She feels that in this moment she has become Arie and she hates herself for it.

She spends the following morning on the couch in a robe in deep despair. She didn't expect yesterday to end up that way, but the show must go on.

She executes the perfect jump and straddle for Garrett before they enter the jungle to test their bamboo raft skills. The intern failed to the check the local holiday schedule and their outing fell on a national holiday. There is literal traffic jam in the river filled with party rafts, elephants, and kids. They carefully navigate the chaos and toast to teamwork.

At dinner, they discuss their futures. Garrett can sell medical things from anywhere so he is willing to meet in the middle with her. He shares that he is in love with her and his admission earns him the fantasy suite card and the key to a luxury tree house. In the morning, they dine on the porch listening to the Thai torrential downpour and rehashing the evening. Becca is wearing noticeably less make up with Garrett. Either the make up artist couldn't make it to the yurt, or she feels more comfortable with Garrett.

Jason comes back to visit with Becca and gift her a scrapbook so that he can close the door to their relationship. Becca is tearful and knows they had something special, but it just wasn't enough. She is hopeful that he will find someone who treats him like a king. I'm hopeful that she'll mail the scrapbook back--seemed like he might want it more than a soon to be married woman.

At the rose ceremony, Blake and Garrett arrive and look around for their third compadre. Becca rolls glides in by canoe and explains how the week went down. She offers them both their roses and announces that they are heading to the Maldives for the final destination!
