Bachelorette Recap Week Eight: Hometowns

Craig Sjodin--ABC
It's time to meet the parents!

Garrett and Nevada are up first. Even though he's a medical sales rep, he puts Becca to work on the farm. His family owns an agricultural business and today they are planting tomatoes. Becca doesn't have the timing quite down so they move onto planting a rose bush so Garrett can bring her roses anytime he wants. They sit for a champagne picnic and bring up Garrett's divorce for the 80th time. He thinks it will be harder for him to bring someone home to his family now so he wants to prepare Becca for the Nevada Inquisition.

At his parents house, they sit down for dinner. Big Sis Allison is the first to ask to speak with Garrett. He describes his initial attraction to Becca and their strong connection. Allison is evidently still traumatized by what Garret went through previously and squeaks out through tears that she is concerned and protective. I needed subtitles so we can't be 100% sure of what she's saying. Papa Garrett and Becca chat about Becca's thoughts on Garrett being ready to be engaged again. Mama Garrett takes her family very seriously and wants her son to be happy. She recognizes shared values in Becca and her family and thinks they could be happy together.

Becca feels natural and easy with Garrett's family and sees their heart and love. I hear wedding bells.

Jason is up next and Becca bundles up to brave the Buffalo brrrr. They dine at the world-famous (?????) Anchorbar where they partake in a chicken wing eating contest. Becca, in an attempt to be dainty, fails, but still earns a kiss that reeks of wings. Jason takes her to a deserted hockey rink to test her skating ability. Here is where we also learn his cute nickname for her: Beccster. They scrimmage briefly before saddling up the Zamboni for a steamy ride around the ice.

Chewing Trident to mask the chicken wing stink, Becca meets the fam. Mama Jason wants to know if Becca will be ready to be engaged again. Becca recognizes there is still a long way to go, but she is hopeful. Jason sits down with his brother and brother in law. He shares that he is falling in love with Becca and that there is something so special about her. However, he hasn't told Becca these things and his brother encourages him to do so.

Jason takes his instructions literally and pour his heart out in front of his parents house. They kiss.

Colorado is Becca's next destination. She heads to Blake's hometown of Bailey where he takes her on a tour of his high school. I groaned. I thought Blake was better than that! He introduces her to his teachers and his coaches, but fails to point out which teacher/coach was the catalyst for his parents' divorce. They wind up in the library where Blake proceeds to tell Becca about a school shooting that took place here during his senior year and took the life of a student. He said the incident changed his outlook on life. Becca, trying to keep up with this roller coaster of Blake, nods demurely. Sensing the need for an upper, Blake directs her to the auditorium for a Betty Who concert (this is apparently her favorite singer).

Meet the family includes Mama Blake, Mama Blake's new man, and Papa Blake. Bless her heart, Mama Blake is either fashion challenged, color blind, or both. She chose a baby blue and baby pink ensemble to meet her potential future daughter in law. Mama Blake rehashes the demise of Blake's last relationship, mentioning panic attacks, etc. I don't know about Becca, but the red flags are multiplying for me.

Blake professes his love to Becca once again before sending her off to meet Colton's family.

It's a sunny day in Denver and Colton is taking his date to the Children's Hospital of Colorado. First, they need to do some shopping for the kids. They meet two children at the hospital and jump into craft time, flinging paint on the wall a la Princess Diaries style.

Outside the hospital, they occupy a bench for Colton to admit another first. He has never brought a girl home in a formal setting ever. Becca is surprised, but doesn't need 20 minutes to process this admission like the V-bomb. She meets the whole gang, cousins, aunts, parents, etc. Colton and Papa Colton address the Tia challenge. Colton says he threw his cards on the table like a man. Papa Colton wants to know if Becca has done the same re Arie and her previous engagement. Becca postulates that she doesn't want Arie's indecisiveness and dishonestly to reflect on her. Papa Colton urges Becca to end it now if Colton won't be the right decision for her.

Colton, like the 3 men before him, uses his parents' front porch as a platform for a declaration of love.

Becca was impressed with all four hometowns and needs to talk thing through with her best gals. Enter Tia, Kendall, Bekah, Caroline, and Sienne. They toast with mimosas and rehash the week. When Becca gets to Colton's hometown, Tia's face is RBFx10. Tia drains her glass and asks to chat with Becca like right now. They pick a windy spot on the balcony and Tia comes right out in saying that she still has feelings for Colton and it makes her sick to her stomach knowing Becca met his family. Becca is understandably pretty dang frustrated as she thought this was all behind them and she now has feelings for this guy.

Going into the rose ceremony, Becca is determined to trust her gut. I've determined that either men's fashion has become too avant garde for me or not one of these guys can dress themselves. Colton stops Harrison on his way in to ask about "expectations" AKA sex tips for the upcoming fantasy suites.

Garrett

Becca sends Colton home, but never fear he is heading straight for Tia and Paradise.

As for the rest of them, they are heading for Thailand!
